Drill press

Featured Replies

Last weekend I went to Menards just looking around . Came across a drill press that looked pretty decent and wasn't too expensive. I looked at two others but this one had the better build and feel. So I went ahead and spent the Money I'd been saving. Here's what I bought :

Model Number: 90219

Menard® SKU: 2403706

Shipping Dimensions: 21.75 x 15.0 x 10.0

Shipping Weight: 57.3 lbs

10" Performax® Drill Press With Laser Guide

3.2 Amp motor

Cross laser guide

Cast iron table tilting from 0 - 45° LEFT AND RIGHT.

Table height adjustable by rack and pinion system

CSA certified

5 Speeds: 570, 900, 1390, 2050, 3050 RPM

7-3/4 Table (square)

2- 3/8" Quill stroke

1/2" chuck

2 year warranty

Hopefully it will last a little while but it was only $105 after tax.

Should work great. Congratulations on the new purchase.

The laser should really help with alignment.

Sounds like a nice machine. How are the speeds changed?

Gene the speeds are changed by moving the belt up or down on two pullys . Has 2 pullys with five belts slots l . Pullys look like a cone. One pully points down and other points up. Real easy to change.

Congrats on your purchase Mark. Sounds like a nice drill press at a good price.

Only issue with the laser is it runs on 2 aa batteries and you need to remember to take them out everyday or they die quickly. Also the laser isn't as bright as I would like but I can make it out still.

Mark,

If there is a Vocational School nearby, maybe you could have the electronics kids make a 3 volt power supply to run the laser. It would be pretty simple.

Mark, please remember always, shop safety first!!!!!!

When you change the speed on the pulleys, disconnect the power, always!!!! And that goes with any machinery we all have in our shop, the power should always be disconnected prior to any adjustments or servicing.
Congrats Mark!!!!
