This is a very interesting but disconcerting article Gene.  Many of us boomers left the military and furthered our education with the GI Bill.  Now, with the enlistment numbers declining these same dischargees will have to fund their educations on their own or with student loans.  Sadly, many will opt out of advancing their educations.  So unfortunate but a sign of the times.

A minimum of 2 years some sort of disciplined service should be mandatory for all able bodied 18 year olds.
