Posting this a little early, tomorrow will not have a minute free.

Also, Popular Woodturning is showing videos from the Tim Yoder turning series. A new video every other Saturday. The first one was on Saturday April 5. They can be viewed here-

The first video had some really great tips on avoiding tear out when turning a bowl.

As for me, I thought I'd show you just how small my shop really is and why picking your lathe location is so important.

My lathe is mounted on top of a cabinet. Not the best solution but that's the only place there was room. The distance between the lathe and the saw is about 24".

The real problem is that the lathe is higher than the saw. working with large/long stock really was limited until I changed the angle at which the saw sets.

To clear the lathe bed I had to raise the right side of the saw several degrees.

You can see how far off the level is now. This increase  allows long material to just clear the lathe bed.

You can also see, in the background, the fancy lathe tool Lazy Susan that needed to be removed to cut several of the pieces of the bunk beds. Oh, well. "the best laid plans of mice and ..."

Ahh, the joys of the tiny basement shop.

Safe Turning!
