Those soles  are shiny because they have been well used.   Rarely do I have to do much in the way of cleaning a sole, once the refurbs are done.     Just riding across some lumber usually does the shine part.

Maybe add a block plane or two, and be all set, plane wise.



Might have a couple just sitting around, too.   



Just your basic set of planes.   Smoothers, a Jack/Fore plane, and a small jointer.
