April 10, 201412 yr  The last Rust Hunt produced a Disston D-7 Lightweight saw, and a 1/2" wide chisel.   Got the chisel cleaned up, and put away.  Now on to the sawI did scrub a bit on the blade, and found a readable etch.   Seems this saw was from about 1953, or so. Steel medallion, but the rest of the hardware was brass.  Took the saw out to give it a test drive of sortsseemed to start easy enough, cuts a bit rough.  Pulls to the right.   Will have to "stone" the right side a bit.  This was a Carpenter's Saw, afterall.    Tried out a few new items for cleaning the saw's plate.  A 3M Purple scratchy pad underneath a palm sander.   Then, something called "Never Dull" wadding polish, from Eagle One.    Rub the plate down, and then wipe off with a clean rag.   It even shines Brass itemsStarting to look a bit better. There IS an etch there, will have to get some Liquid Gun Blue to bring it out for the camera. The "non-moneyside"Haven't done anything to the handle/tote.  teeth count is eight, or so it was stamped that wayImagine, a saw that is the same age as me.... Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
