April 30, 201412 yr Well here in the Northeast, it is raining cats and dogs! Great for those farmers who have stuff in the fields but it might delay getting the corn in the ground. Last week , I posted information about turning pens from reclaimed historical beams. Yesterday we got the go-a-head to make 100 pens- fully funded by the historical society!! When those pens are distributed/sold we will be producing lots of 10 each. So it looks like the old lathe will be getting a workout! If any of you pen turners have a source for CA and Accelerator- at a good price- I'd appreciate hearing from you. Also, have any of you used rattle can lacquer as a finish for pens. We were discussing it as a possible finish. For those turner, who like the Celtic Knot, I found a video that explains the cutting process along with a demonstration for making a Celtic Knot bottle stopper. It's a little long but shows everything. Safe Turning Lew Kauffman-Wood Turners Forum HostTime Traveler and Purveyor of the Universe's Finest Custom Rolling Pins!
May 1, 201412 yr I have purchased CA at Woodcraft at a reasonable price. Unfortunately it means a trip to Rochester, NY or Springfield, MA since the shipping kills the economy of it. However, I happened to be going past Rochester at the time, and wanted to stop at the store anyhow.Â
May 1, 201412 yr Author Thanks, Chris! Woodcraft is a 50 mile trip each way for me. I often get a Hobby Lobby 40% discount coupon and buy a bottle. They are pretty small and Hobby Lobby doesn't have the accelerator.Chris said:I have purchased CA at Woodcraft at a reasonable price. Unfortunately it means a trip to Rochester, NY or Springfield, MA since the shipping kills the economy of it. However, I happened to be going past Rochester at the time, and wanted to stop at the store anyhow.Â
