April 30, 201412 yr  A VERY RUSTY Shipleigh Smoothing plane.  ETA is Monday, IF the post office doesn't blow away in the meantime.   Only three photos of the plane, and a few clues.  Might be a sargent made, or a Stanley Trade made one.   There APPEARS to be a bolt in the tote's toe.   Knurling on the adjuster wheel is straight across the three rings.    Jusy over 10" long.   Might be a day in the shop to refurb?  Maybe?Seeings how i work so slow on these...Will post the "before" when it shows up.   Don't think it came with the "original box" though...Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...

May 2, 201412 yr Author Ok, IF this thing is rusty and crusty enough to warrent a FULL rehab, there MIGHT be a blog a-coming along with it. Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
May 2, 201412 yr Author Well, it did show up todayIron IS stamped as a Shipleigh.   It has a 2" wide iron.  A STEEL frog.   And them PITA little bolts that hold the frog in place.   It was waiting on the doorstep when I got home from a Rust Hunt.   Another look at this GEM of a #4 sized planeTHIS might take awhile.   Might be Rusty & Crusty enough for a blog?   As for the rust hunt?   Picked up a small bundle of saw files for $0.50.   Needed them for these two $2 gemsOne is a Disston & Sons, the one in back seems to be a Simonds & Sons.   Looks like someone needed some "iron" in their diet?   Note the screw holding the one tote together?   Now, which one to try and fix up?    Disston has some bad teeth down near the toe.   The Simonds seems to be destined for a panel saw nose job.    The totes need just a wee bit of work...A-yup.... Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
