May 3, 201412 yr wasn't that great. One place said they had tools, but when we got there, it was just Mechanics stuff.  Then drove out of the city to another Barn Fresh site.   It did have a pile of old hand saws, including a Disston D-100 PLASTIC handle one.   Got the digging through the pile, saw a Disston-like saw, for $2, and kept digging for a donor saw for the broken tote on the skew back D-8.  Well, the "donor is even more of an oldie than the D-8.   There is a medallion on it, with a cresent moon and a star.  A very early Simonds saw, also a skew back, but a cross cut one. The D-8 appears to be a rip toothed one, but no thumbhole. Both saws cost a whopping $2 eachDisston is in front.  Not sure what eat a bite out of the Simonds, but i think we will need a better trap set. Trying to get a better look at the totesDid you notice that wood screw?   The ends (toe) of these is rather nasty lookingThe D-8's teeth almost disappear out this way. The tip on the other is bent.  Might just cut that saw down into a panel size saw.   Drove around to a few other sales, wound up a one place, and bought a "bundle" (three) of saw files.  @ $0.50    Figured I MIGHT need a few later.    Well, not too bad a start of the season.  Around here, entire towns have town wide sale days, sooooo, stay tuned... May 4, 201412 yr Keep buying those saws at those prices Steve, your bound to find the diamond in the rough one day and have a some collectibles while you are at it. I would think the fun part is just getting out and digging through that stuff, we do not have much opportunity out this way to dig for old treasures like that. I envy you!
