Help a disabled veteran?

Featured Replies

Courtney and Bryan are dear friends of mine.  I've been living with them for the past year, and it's hard to describe what her life is like.  Until the VA figures this out, she will struggle.  Help her make this happen, if you can:

And maybe some of you will consider helping us with the larger problem.  Until RSD or CRPS gets recognition from the VA, Courtney and other disabled veterans will suffer.

Thanks,

Mike

I don't know why they keep calling me a hippy carpenter...

Mike, has Courtney contacted The Wounded Warriors yet? They perform miracles for our vets in crisis.

Indeed, her husband Bryan works there.  He is still active duty, and also a patient.  He's had to have surgury on both his shoulders.  She does not fit the criteria to receive help from them.

Mike, is she a veteran? Or does she fall under the Spouse of Active Duty Status?

She's a veteran also, medically discharged.  She injured herself while active, but it was misdiagnosed.  The VA has no designation for her condition, so they just diagnosed her with the next nearest affliction.  Courtney was diagnosed after her discharge by private doctors.  She has been fighting the VA for 10 years over this.  Her disablitly was cut last year around this time and her benefit for respite care was also eliminated.  She should be at 100% disabled, as she is completely unemployable.  Instead, her rating dropped from 40% to 30%

Jeeeez, what the heck man. Talk about falling through the cracks. This is the poster child case here. Mike, I wish you guys the best of luck, keep the faith buddy. I've know folks who had less of a claim from an injury that happened twenty years ago while on active duty and they get fully compensated, incredible!
