May 4, 201412 yr  Handle came out of the clamps this afternoon.   Block plane to level the two pieces down to the same level.   Chisels to work the walnut "filler" to a close match.  Rasps to shape it better.   Tore an old sanding belt into a few narrow strips, and started the sanding.    Might get this done, later this week, have to work at my "Day Job" the next two nights. A look at where this repair is right nowThe "Show side", Brass is there to keep the brass from wandering off.  The Simonds bolts won't fit. Yep, still some sanding to do.   Don't know WHO was "J.D." but this is my saw now.  Now, what to do about a hole?Seems the Simonds tote was held together by a big old woodscrew.  Don't want to put that back in.... Well, day #2 is done, have to get ready to "motor" to my "Day Job" for the night. Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
