May 12, 201412 yr comment_2486  this old plane went through. I just don't like painted wood handles, tain't right.  So after the rest of that Stanley #5-1/2 Type 19 was done worked over, worked the handles, too. The resultsWell, the sole does look better, anyway, Ok, NOW them HandlesDoes look a might better,From the side.  Minwax Provinncial stain on the bare wood, and a front view, ok, that was weird, Front view went to the top?   Anyway still need a bolt (on the way) and maybe a final work over of the cutterYeah, THAT bolt.  Says No. 5 1/2   As for the front endWeell, not a bad day, afteralll? May 29, 201412 yr comment_2490 I'm sort of new to planes and picked up one for 2 bucks the other day that was painted blue and yellow. Thought someone had got bored and painted it. Found that Stanley did that on purpose for a few years. Looks nice on the shelf. Report

May 30, 201412 yr Author comment_2487 This old plane will make a shaving or twoaggainst a 2x4 of red oak. and even some barn wood pineDouble 4 Dutch lap siding, that is.   Trying to get the "Dutch" part flat enough to use.   Might just get there...
