May 24, 201411 yr Popular Post On this holiday weekend. Remember what this is all about It isn't the Parades, because they were never in them It isn't the cookouts, because they never got to do them It isn't about hte paid day off. It IS about all those gentle souls who never made back home From a wooded Creek near Shiloh Church From a Little Rocky Hill near a small town in PA. From a Hill named Kettle From a muddy ditch called a Trench in the Argonne From a COLD town at Christmas time in Europe From a frozen lake in Korea From a muddy dike in a jungle rice paddy From a sand dune It is to remember all of them who gave their last Full Measure, so you could have a day to remember them by. And hope that someday, we won't have another hill to take, a town to defend, or a field full of Poppies to cross. Remember them...
May 25, 201411 yr Popular Post Amen Steve!!!!! I pray for a day we will never have to take another hill again! Thank you Steve, and thank you sir for your service as well.
May 25, 201411 yr Popular Post Well said, Steve. It is a day of remembrance - at least it should be - of those who gave all in order for us to remain free. Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it. - Mark Twain The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission. - John F. Kennedy There is nothing wrong with America that the faith, love of freedom, intelligence, and energy of her citizens can not cure. - Dwight David Eisenhower I have long believed that sacrifice is the pinnacle of patriotism. -“Bob Riley Who kept the faith and fought the fight; The glory theirs, the duty ours. - “Wallace Bruce The patriots blood is the seed of the Freedom tree. - “Thomas Campbell

May 26, 2025May 26 Popular Post Thank-you Steven. I copied, pasted and sent out on a family group text. There were probably 400-500 in attendance today at our county seat at the newly "commissioned" Veterans Memorial Park fittingly located between the VFW post and the Indiana National Guard Armory. Our church held a special service at the end of normal worship service honoring three of our members who are Vietnam veterans as well as brothers of two of our members who did not.
