June 28, 201411 yr In me best Pirate voice.  Two days of "Sale-ing around" in search of booty.  Still about to head out for a third day. So farA screwdriver kit, the Half-moon thingy fits onto the flat bladed screwdriver, and then you can install hook & eyes with a turn of the wrist ($3)  Lufkin 6' Red cap ruler, with the brass extention bar. ($2) Not sure what kind of square THAT is for $2 That old box came with that Millers Falls #9 Smooth plane. Had to go over and pick it up at an Antique store.  Well, there were TWO stores, and I wandered into the wrong one, and bought an $8 Handyman #1203.  The "New in Box was $10.69 counting sales tax. A Made in England block plane, almost brand new ( might have been used once?) @ $2 There was a Skil 3/8" keyless chuck, electric drill in the haul ($5) that i dropped off at my Daughter's house, so she would stop taking MINE. Not, aout that square appear objectHmmm?   The "T" section is bowed at both ends, rivets getting loose.  Never seen one with slots at sertain numbers before. o name on it, either.  7" long, too. Also in the "haul" was a Craftsman #408 ( Stanley #3 size) made by Sargent.   Got it all nice and shined up, in-between road tripsEven did a bit of "Dukes of Hazard" on the way home.  Seems Ol'Lead Foot was moving along a might too fast ( 70, in a 55) and drew the attention on a County Mounty.   After a few turns on a few un-named back roads, No County Mounty to be seen.  Motored on home at speed limit, though... Have been woken up earlt this morning, as the "Game is still a-foot, Watson" Be WARNED:  I'll be wearing SHORTS today!  Have to work on a Farmer's Tan, afterall......Arrrgh! Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
June 28, 201411 yr Very nice haul Steve! That square is interesting indeed. I found this on Google, perhaps it's a metric thing Steve, those slots. If you click on the image you'll be taken to the seller of that square pictured and it appears they are over the pond. June 28, 201411 yr Author Been informed it is called a ripping square, for marking a line to rip.  Depending on where in the slot you mark, it will be left, right or center of the saw blade. A Handyman #1203 is almost done with ReHab.   Got it when I went to pick up the NIB Millers Falls #9.   Paid a couple bucks more than the Stanley, though.Planer? June 28, 201411 yr I can't picture how exactly that would work Steve, my mind cannot grasp how those holes would be used to mark out ripping lines.steven newman said: Been informed it is called a ripping square, for marking a line to rip.  Depending on where in the slot you mark, it will be left, right or center of the saw blade. A Handyman #1203 is almost done with ReHab.   Got it when I went to pick up the NIB Millers Falls #9.   Paid a couple bucks more than the Stanley, though.
