July 3, 201411 yr Taking a long break from that toolchest build project, haven't really worked out any details for it....YET. Now, remember that "parts saw" from the pruning saw deal? Not that big guy in front, the little fella in back.   Well, I had to trash the handle/tote to get the Bolts/Rivets out, and figured I would just throw the plate away, too.  Got to moving things around, getting the lathe back on to the benchtop.  Spotted a Handle just sitting there.   Hmmm, maybe I could... Went out anf got some 60 grit sand paper, fitted a piece to the palm sander.  laid the rusty & crusty plate on the saw bench outside the back door.   sanded one side clean, flipped it over, changed to a new piece of sandpaper, and cleaned the other side up.  Did a test fitThat wood top of the bench WAS clean before this.  Sanded the tote as well.  let the sunshine hit the sawVery little pitting, and mainly on this side.  Not a kink, not a dent, nor a bend.  Not a missing tooth even.   Will need a bit of file work to sharpen up.   Now the fun part...I need new saw bolts for THIS saw.  And a WS medallion too.  Saw will be a 8ppi crosscut, USER saw.  plate is even straight and has a "ring" to it!   Might be a keeper, after all... instead of in the trash.
