July 7, 201411 yr My wife has been working a second job for about 13 years and had to work every Saturday. Last weekend was her last day and we had a Saturday to spend together. We both love rust hunting so we got out early and headed out toward Athens, Alabama. Before we got going we past a yard sell in the front of a building with lots of people and stuff. We turned in and I was looking through this tool box and found this really neat utility knife. They started making this one around mid 1930's and it was made until at least 1954. As you look there is no sliding blade or blade cover. Leaving there we stopped at this really cool flea Market. I loved the sign on the door. While looking around here I found sitting on a shelf this old Stanley No.78. The logo on the side of this No.78 was used in 1910. Later we went into another place and I saw this old Stanley No. 71 1/2 hanging on the wall. Same logo as on the 1910 No. 78. I have a Stanley no 71 which has an open mouth and now I picked up this No.71 1/2. No many people like this plane so there were not many of them sold making them a little more rare. It is missing the cutter but it is the same as the No.71. Later in the evening we were at the auction and I purchased these three traps. All in all we had a great day out rust hunting. She found a few items she was interested in also. And hey you never know what you will find. When we got to the auction, they were selling a steel casket. No, I didn't bid on it but it did sell for $26.00. It is a fun day anytime we get out together looking for items.
