Friday, July 11th, What's on Your Patriot Woodworker Agenda?

Featured Replies

My son just finished another green egg table and today I finished sanding it. Tomorrow it will be ready for a finish and delivered. We have another to get cut out this weekend and about three other projects we have got to start gathering material for.

I also got four larger cutting boards sanded with four grits on the drum sander. Just need to clean up and round over the edges and they will be ready for the mineral oil.

So today was very productive and then tomorrow we will be working on other projects plus getting the shop ready for a couple of TPW visitors.

So what is on your Patriot Woodworking agenda this weekend? Share your projects with us and please post pictures and tell us all about it.

So what are you waiting for, tell me about your projects.

Pen box. Unsuccessfully trying to cut dovetails in 300+ year old, 1/4" thick, brittle pine.

Resting after the biggie and watching three grand-daughters this weekend.

Hi John,

How's the knee?

After a bout with something strange, I think I can get back to a trophy case for a friend, today. Maybe get it to the stage of dry assembly.

Gene, the knee is coming along. Not as fast as I would like, but it is doing very well. I got 120 degrees of bend which is where they wanted me to be at this point. I really need to get to 130 degrees to be as normal with the bend as possible. I still have some pain and some swelling, but it is getting stronger everyday. Thanks for asking.

Have a great weekend.

As usual,

Hanging out in Yuma, AZ with my wife. Tami's Dad had to have surgery on Friday so we came to help out for the weekend. He has a rare form of cancer that grew onto his right scapula and the surrounding muscles. So they previously removed a large tumor which helped greatly, but it go into the bone so yesterday they removed a baseball sized chunk of tumor and muscle along with about half of his right scapula. The surgery went well and he will be in the hospital for a few more days before starting into rehab to learn how to work his shoulder again. He is 86 and healthy other than the shoulder issue. We will be heading back home on Sunday.

Allen, Hoping for the best for your FIL.

Stay cool in Yuma....or is that even possible?

106º in Yuma, today.

Gene,

I am actually sitting out in the shade on the patio of the Yuma Regional Medical Center Cafeteria as it is too cold inside for me. The 100 degree dry heat in the shade feels good. I was sitting in my FIL's room on a bench next to the window as it was the warmest place in the room. It is so cold in the hospital that it reminds me of a walk-in cooler and being that I used to deliver Coca Cola to a lot of walk-in coolers I know what it feels like. It really sucks as my temperature regulation is all out of whack from all the nerve damage and spinal surgeries that I have had. I never used to get bothered with the cold but now I really have a hard time with things being too cold. There are actually times when I kind of like being in Yuma with the weather. When it is between 80 and 100 it feels good, but 105+ it sucks. Right now I got a breeze blowing so apart from the noise of the water circulation pumps running and all those pesky sick people inside it is just wonderful. :-)
