Friday, July 25th, What's on Your Patriot Woodworker Agenda this weekend?

Featured Replies

Well we are midway through summer and I had to saw at least where I live so far it has been a mild, wet summer. Not complaining, just an observation.

So this week seems to be the best week I have had on my knee so far. Of course I haven't been in the shop since Allen and Ron left on Monday. I did have therapy on Tuesday and Thursday. I was able to get it to bend to 126 degrees on Thursday and my goal before I head back to work on the 4th of August is 130 degrees. I am getting very close and trying to keep the swelling under control.
So with that said, today I am heading to the shop to start a project that I hope to get all finished and out by the first of the week. I am making a 41" x 51" maple butcher block that will be 2" thick when finished. This will be heading to Naples, Florida. Earlier this week I went to the Wood Stash and brought some Maple over to the shop and stacked it in the floor to be ready for today.

I will be starting some other cutting boards later this weekend, so this will give me some cut offs to use on the cutting boards.

So this is where my weekend will start and I will keep you updated on the project as it moves along. I will be doing several glue ups just to keep it in line.

So what is on Your Patriot Woodworker Agenda this weekend? Are you spending time in the shop, yard work, jig building, home improvement, shop update, or just laying around in the cool of the air conditioning? We love to see your projects and hear all about them and the process you use to build them. Please share with us your projects here and post pictures so we can see what you are building.

So I am waiting to see your projects, let's get them uploaded and posted!

Making boxes for files and rasps. A making handles for them.

Having a blast!

John,

Working on getting the Walnut blanket chest form my grand daughter finished. Being that I am here in Indianapolis at my kid's house that they just moved into on Monday and they have no tools other than a Husky Tool Set from Home Depot that I bought my son about 4 years ago, I had to go to the local Home Depot and buy a few things to get it done. I had to get a Random Orbit Sander to do the final sanding, a small Shop Vac to attach to the ROS, a 12v drill/drive and some bits, a pair of folding saw horses and some various finishing supplies. So $300 later I am all set to get moving with it. When we head home next week I will leave the tools for the kids as a house warming gift as they will need them as they will have a lot of DIY jobs to do as they make this new house their home

Show tomorrow but hauling and stacking wood today.  Sunday, Brickyard 400.

Had a plane to get finish ed up.   Then maybe some more work on a Tool Chest project....

and making shavings.  That piece of oak is part of the Tool Chest project.    Might be a rail for a side/end section?  SLOWLY working my way down through that stash of old bed frame parts.   More on that...later.

Setting up and getting ready for customers.  We did a show at the local Summerfest.  Great crowd, great weather, beautiful weather and I even made a few hundred dollars.

Glad your show went well Ron. Looks like you had a nice variety of stuff.
