Ron Altier Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 Some time back I asked advise on 10" table saw blades. I have been using WW II for many years and paid about $120 about 10 years ago. I had it resharpened twice by the manufacturer and both time they did a bad job. (The second sharpening was a return to correct the first time.) So I asked advise from guys here. The one that received praise was the Diablo I purchased the 50 tooth combination blade at HD for $40 (+/-) I always go over my saw and check /clean/ lube my saw when I install a new blade. After I got it all ready to go I picked our a piece of old oak and ripped/crosscut it several times. I only have one word to describe this blade. SWEEEEET! Quote
John Moody Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 That is great. I buy those blades also. Quote
lew Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 May have to check these out. I need a new blade. Quote
John Morris Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 Pulled this topic from the archives, has anyone followed on Ron's suggestion for the purchase of one of these? And tried them out? I am going hunting today for a blade. Quote
Allen Worsham Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 (Allen Here) I have used the Diablo blades in my circular saw, but not in my table saw. I do have a higher end Freud thin kerf ripping blade in my table saw which I really love. I also have a Woodworker 2 thin kerf combination blade that I use for cross cutting which works great. I have a great saw sharpening shop here in town that I take all my blades to as they are cheap and have a good turnaround time. We have a number of cabinet making shops as well as furniture and fabrication shops in town that use the same sharpening shop I do as well, so I have always gotten good service. Quote
Gene Howe Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 I envy anyone with ready access to a good sharpening service. I send mine to Phoenix. He does a great job but it's a hassle. My favorite brand is Tenryu. Good carbide, stays sharp quite a while, and always true. It's absolutely the best SCMS blade I've ever used. Their dado blades are good too, but cut some very large bat wings. A trip to my sharpening service, and now they cut perfectly flat dadoes. Quote
John Hechel Posted December 26, 2014 Report Posted December 26, 2014 John, I have diablo blades in my crapsman saws and would rate them as good (say 7-8 out of 10). I still get some tooth marks, fluttering, and a little burning when I push a little hard in maple. I haven't used any $100 blades yet so I haven't much to compare them to at the high end. I would rank them as the best $50 blades I've used to date though Quote
