August 27, 201411 yr Thursday August 28th Here's Thursday's progress. Pedestal mounted temporarily and waiting for laminate to dry so I can make the feet. I also router the edge trim on the top. The skirt is not attached and waiting for pocket screw holes. August 27, 201411 yr Yepers, looking pretty danged good, that oct base doesn't look too bad after all Ron, I take back everything I said!
August 28, 201411 yr Author I'll tell you what guys. The church got a bargain because I really underbid the job but hey, it is only money.
August 28, 201411 yr Right on man, only money indeed. The build is what is important, and the cause. You'll be rewarded I am sure Ron, if not already in some way or fashion, I know we are already benefiting from this project here on TPW. Ron Dudelston said: I'll tell you what guys. August 30, 201411 yr Author Today isn't "Humpday" but it was "Footday". I built the feet to the table today and parked the whole thing temporarily on the floor to get a picture. With any luck I'll be ready to start applying finish in a day or so. We lost the compressor to our home A/C so the shop is the best place to be.
August 30, 201411 yr Wow!!! Those feet are sweet! How did ya get the thickness, did you glue up two pieces of the oak benches?
August 30, 201411 yr Author You nailed it John. I planed the seat backs to get the ugly green finish off them and glued four of them together into a 2 3/4" wide piece. I made a template to trace the feet oan viola, four feet. I used the same router bit on the feet as I used on the table top edge but set it deeper. Gene, I'm going to use two hanger bolts in each one and bolt them to the pedestal. I made a jig and marked and drilled all of the holes.
