The furniture bank is chronically low on sofas and loveseats to give to clients. We're looking for ways to make some, mostly from wood but possibly buying foam and making cushions. Futons are generally not the best because they are hard for the delivery guys to handle without banging their fingers. Any thoughts, ideas, plans, or projects?

The only other thought I would have is Morris Chair type things, I've seen (Wood magazine , I think) plans for loveseats made in that style/ But I'd bet those a re a little more complicated than you need.

Too late to edit the above post, but maybe something along the lines of this piece, with a streamlined design (do away with the through tenons, corbels, and change the slats on the end to a solid panel, etc.) might work (?). Alternatively, take a look at this plan.

My step-dad was a general contractor, always had loads of lumber around the house. In one day he slammed together a bunch of 2x4s with glue and nails, all butt joints, he had foam and fake brown leather upholstery he got from somewhere, and made two chairs and one sofa. He secured the upholstery with those turtle shell style tacks. Oh ya he also torched the wood to accentuate the grain.

I was in 1st grade, and we had that furniture for quite a few years before he gave it away and got store bought. The darn stuff couldn't be destroyed!
