A labor of love and necessity, it's a good video, I couldn't wait to share this one with y'all. 🙂

There is a section of the video where he talks about a post and beam kit, he was only comparing the costs of purchasing one, in relation to what he did by cutting his own trees and milling his own beams, the entire home is by his hand, from his property, but for the bottles, he and his wife went through recycle bins to acquire the bottles.

The homes wall construction is called "Cord Wood" built, a method used for centuries, instead of full logs for cabins, the small trees were cut into short lengths and used like stacked firewood and filling the gaps with mortar.

Spent a little time in the basement. Couple hours today helping one of Mimi's friend setup her new phone. Couple of appointments coming up.

This is "bulky trash" week for us. Get to load up all the old stuff that is too big for the regular trash collection and take it to a central collection point. I miss the old days when we set it out at the curb and all the curb shoppers would come and take it.

Well, even though the garden was a big disappointment this year I hate for the time I clean it out and get ready for winter; yet that's what I'm doing today. I've got the electric fence down and the sprinklers put away, I may till it later (or not, maybe later this week). I made some good progress on my serpentine drawer project over the weekend, most of the finishing is done (still need to do the table top) and then final assembly. This thing turned out to be quite heavy so before I get help to move it into the house Marie has to approve replacing the old one with this one.

My husband's second waving flag is completed and in place. He was able to put this one together from the "cutoffs" from the first flag (plus a few boards I had to cut given the leftover piece was lacking) and this morning we mounted it on our driveway gate. This one is much thinner and lighter than the first one so weight should not be an issue. Looks really nice!

for once, a productive morning.

started i the shop, found some leftover T&G pieces (extra from the garden gate i made a bit ago), recut one and made a new drawer for a friends kitchen. the old drawer body was particle board, and it lasted about 40 years, and then just fell apart. made a new one, and later on, to my surprise, it fit!!

stopped by another friend's house and put up some brick mold trim around an exterior door he just had replaced to his garage. had to cut the parts to size once there, but it looks good, he'll paint it to match later.

and some running around with other admin errands.

and then this PM dug out the access to the septic tank, tomorrow is pump out day!!!!! gonna be a great day, pooh be gone!
