accurate angle finder recommendations

Featured Replies

Back story--- i currently have 4 (count 'em) of the digital angle cubes and 2 digital angle protractors---and only 2 of the 6 agree on a 45 degree when compared to a machinist 45 and to a starrett combo square

so

does anyone have a favorite digital angle cube that is accurate at 45 most of the time?

and yes I have tried to calibrate the cubes according to the manufactures instructions.

I did learn (thru the internet?) that battery strength, current temperature, time from turning them on, and about 600 other variables affect the accuracy of the cubes.

and by being off I mean by degrees or several 1/10 of degrees.

thoughts/suggestions??

I have two of these from Lee Valley. I have always found them to be dead accurate.

I have this one from Wixey

I really never checked it against an accurate mechanical device. Nice unit but it eats batteries like they were peanuts. I pop loose the battery holder after I'm done using it- CR2032

I have a Beall Tilt Box that seems to be on the money. If it's off it's in tenths of a degree, I only say that because getting the saw blade to exactly 45° using the Tilt Box can be a little tedious at times.

I have a Starrett combo square, a drafting triangle, a couple of shop triangles, a Wixey digital protractor, and a Wixey angle gauge. Never checked them against each other, though.

I have this as well
