Well, we are once again empty nesters. Our granddaughter (a senior at IU) spent the summer with us while she worked for the local parks department. Saturday begins my Etsy Christmas building season. My goal is to have plenty of product on hand for the lunacy that is to come.

I though I would be curtailed for a week. My doc put me on a heart monitor yesterday. I remember the last one being a maze of wires/patches and a box I had to wear which pretty much kept me from doing anything. The news are about the size of a pocket watch and just tape on high on your chest. Then you carry a dedicated cell phone around to capture the info....an applause from me for technology. With it being so wet outside i can't do anything out there, I'll be starting on a frame for a mirror that goes on the top of a sideboard I've been working on forever. I may try to turn a few knob designs for the drawers, though I'm less certain that will have a good outcome.

Waiting IMPATIENTLY for my computer to come back to life and then spend time getting things to work again. During that waiting time I wait for a call to check another computer and to reinstall a bathroom towel rack.

Had some office work (too many hours in front of my computer 😕). Then some prepping our laundry room for paint...my husband's idea. Limited time in the shop so just a little project. Needed to address this sad chisel storage (just threw out the box they came in recently 😬).

Did a resaw of some walnut and glued those pieces up yesterday. Today continued working on the maple "holders." Glued in place once I felt satisfied with the spacing.

Tomorrow hopefully I can apply finish and put it to use organizing the drawer.

Years ago, I made a gun case for a friend. He wanted this stuff used to protect the contents-

Yeah, it's back. One of the infamous MS updates failed to install and hung. Ended up doing an in-place upgrade once I finally got back to the OS. That fixed the problem but things still seems a little slow.

16G RAM, 2TB of HDD, Intel Core i5 CPU. Guess I should consider going to SSDs, Just a pain in the a$$ to clone the HDD and hope all the critical apps still work. Maybe I just need to quit upgrading the XP box and break down and start fresh.

Linux is attractive but I have a few apps that will not run on it and no open source apps that can replace them.

The SSD would make a big difference. I use 256gb SSD's for the OS's only on both machines, and HDD's for storage.

The way MS is going the 256gb SSD's might not be big enough, last I looked it was using about 148gb of space.

I have 2 other 2TB HDDs in that box. One for file storage and one for weekly backups. Also have a 2TB Seagate USB HDD with a ghost image- which I definitely need to upgrade. My one critical app is from a "one-time purchase" to SAAS. I refuse to pay a monthly fee for something that works and their upgrades are not worth the price of the monthly fees. The company made reregistering almost impossible. Found a fellow who figured it out and he shared the process. Thank goodness for the Internet!!

Did you get flooding in your house or shop?

Finished the chisel holder. The walnut and maple go well with the cabinet. Little projects are good for morale. 😉

Started on some shelves for the laundry room. Will be painted so used some plywood cutoffs and poplar for the front edge.

I use it in my workbench for planes and chisels and also in my turning tool drawers.

It works great and acts as padding .

Yesterday hauled some trees to burn pile . Had been cut for a while. Got some dirt moved from front ditch to the long range berm . We discovered the back fence belongs to us . It had 19 old style tee posts 6 foot tall so I used the tractor to pull them . Well... son says that marked property line. Had to tell him the corners are marked for that purpose and I did not remove the wire. Go figure kids!!

Today was woodturners meeting . By the time I got home car therm said was 100 so no shop time
