It has been my belief that a craftsman should be able to use both hands efficiently. He/she should know the technique well enough that they can employ it with either hand. There are going to be times when that is either necessary or more convenient. It is also my belief, particularly with hand tools, that proper technique is the key.

I agree with you. I'm a major hand tool guy and the usage of them is my love!

Biggest thing.....should be a straight line from one's Shoulder down through the elbow, and into the length of the hand saw...

Hand planes: Do NOT get a death-grip on that front knob....you only need pressure on the knob at the start...and nothing at the end of a pass. Whichever hand is on the knob, merely GUIDES a plane along....the other hand is doing all the work at the back of the plane...
