21 hours ago21 hr Picnic table rebuild finished but Mimi wants it repainted. Some sanding needed on the "old" parts and probably at least 5 gallons of paint if she does the painting.Got an order for a set of salt and pepper grinders and a bread bowl, from my BIL,

5 hours ago5 hr I'm plodding along on the miter station (between projects my husband has for me!). On two of the cabinets, I am planning for a shallow upper drawer with a door on the lower part (overlay for both). I cut some plywood strips for a "divider" that the door, as well as the drawer, will close on (see arrow in the second picture). Will be held with pocket screws.I plan to have all drawers in the other two cabinets. Should I add similar "dividers" between the drawers? I'm thinking this would allow for a "seal" with the drawer fronts (I've had a mouse issue in the past in the shop that I want to avoid). I have not seen an added strip in the YouTube videos I have watched and so started to question if there might be a reason not to do so.

Those little buggers have a way of invading virtually any space, regardless of our attempts to prevent it. The spacers do provide a nice visual separation between drawers and provides a little fudge factor when aligning overlay drawer fronts.
2 hours ago2 hr Those spacers likely won't do much to stop a mouse. Like Lew said, they can just about thwart any attempt to block their paths to where ever they want to go. But installing those pieces won't hurt, just be a little extra work so it won't hurt to put them in, but I'm not sure how much they'll help with anything either. Years ago I built some shop cabinets like that and with the drawers on full extension slides, I put so much weight in them that the sides bowed out...making the slides bind. I had to retro fit a piece like that roughly in the center to keep the sides from bowing.
2 hours ago2 hr I know there is no "proofing" when it comes to mice, but hopefully at least "discouraging" them! Won't be too much extra work to add the bars, so may just plan to add them. Hadn't thought about bowing if the sides. Not an issue for the inner walls, but the sides and single might be impacted over time.
