May 22May 22 Popular Post Honoring and remembering our heroes who gave all. Forever young. Please share your memorial here.Feel free to comment and give honors and thoughts on this solemn day.My Great Uncle Jeriod Merle Tate USMC 1st SgtDied of his wounds received during the initial assault on Guam, he was transported back to his ship, where he succumbed 3 days later. May God have a place of eternity for my Uncle Jeroid Merle Tate, and the rest of his Devil Dogs and all the men and women who paid the ultimate price.Uncle Jeroid, or as my father called him Uncle Jerry, was involved in many of the South Pacific campaigns before his life ended, he fought in the jungles of the South Pacific from island to island, he was war tested. He received his 1st SGT rank during a battle field commission in an earlier island campaign. We proudly named our son after my Great Uncle, we wanted to name him with a meaningful name.As a side note, his mother did not get the news of his passing for an entire month, news just moved slow back then. The photo below was taken at San Diego's MCRD. The Western Union and the image are both in our possession, as family heirlooms.

May 23May 23 GOD has our fallen heroes in His hands and is forever protecting them.I lost an Uncle (Dale P Wilson) in North Africa after his plane crashed. His cross is displayed under the American flag in my front yard every Memorial Day.

May 23May 23 Popular Post It’s no secret that I’m an Indycar fan and this year marks Indy 500 #53. Part of the pre race ceremony is “Taps” and every year the crowd of 300,000 is absolutely silent during that part of the ceremony. Every year it raises the hair on my neck because of the reverence of the moment.
May 24May 24 Yes we want to remember those heroes who gave all protecting our freedom and way of life. I sometime think of all the talent and could have been that is sacrificed in war yet still knowing that a strong hand is what keeps us who we are. If you have not seen it or read it look up the address the Secretary of War gave at the West Point graduation. Very telling of what this administration is about and what they will do for our troops. It was my privilege and honor to serve . Did not get to go into harms way but I did know some who did and some who did not return. Here is to them all.
May 24May 24 Popular Post My Great Great Grandfather, my Great Grandfather, my Grandfather, my Father, Myself, my Wife and my Son have all served our Nation. We honor those that came before us and protected the foundations that created our Nation and the sacrifices of those that never made the ride home. We have given some, some have given it all. My wife and I as retired Army soldiers remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice and honor the traditions and customs of the United States of America. Freedom comes at a cost, I am more than willing to pay the price, as my oath of service never ends...Regards, Nevin
