Here's an interesting way to hold lumber especially when on edge. Then you can saw, hand plane, or whatever you need to do. Easy to set up, use, and cost effective.

I like the 45 bevel along the edge to keep it down tight against the bench as it’s driven in. Cool idea.

Surprisingly it works well. Sometimes it's so handy where conventional clamps and vises don't work. It's worth making one.

Cool idea and I know not a new one . It is amazing how we forget these clever jig ideas when we do not have the means to do otherwise.
