April 8Apr 8 Popular Post Finally got one of those 'round tuits' and turned some good wood into sawdust and noise. And these here things.ERC, poplar/mesquite, mesquite/spalted pecan. Had a bit of an issue with the last one after one ring blew up and I couldn't find all of it. So, I improvised, adapted and overcomed.
April 8Apr 8 Those are awesome Tony! Love the one in the last two pics. I'll bet that "sawdust" smelled really good too?
April 8Apr 8 Amazing what can hide inside a board, great work, and if that solid ring is your adapting to overcome
April 9Apr 9 Author Thanx, guys.Dave - Those cedar ones made the shop smell pretty good. But then the pecan sort of took all that away. Win some, lose some.Rusty S - Got that idea from the larger cedar bowls. And then that idea gave me another idea for an entire bowl made that way. We shall see how that comes about. May be a while yet before we see those. It only took me 5 months to get around to doing these.
April 9Apr 9 Some great looking pieces. I am guessing the slots cut on individual rings with router? I sometimes carves and pierce bowls and this gives me ideas for RM bowls.

The squared ends are made by stacking squares together and then cutting rings.
