April 1Apr 1 Popular Post With my scroll sawing, one of the issues is being able to drill small holes (down to .025, a #71 bit) on what can be a fairly wide board, beyond what my full size drill press can do (about 7.5" from the column). I have been using a cordless Dremel in the plunge router accessory, the plunge router has issues with some wobble in the guide rails and the cordless Dremel is starting to have worn bearings and some runout. I pulled the trigger on a light duty, mini drill press. I picked this style because I can mount it upside down on a shelf and drill down to a platform. I have a temporary platform put together from items I have lying around. once I know the height I need I'll either raise the base or make a sturdier platform for drilling.
