Shaker boxes

Featured Replies

My daughter is helping her in-laws downsize in preparation for a move to a retirement community.

My wife is encouraging me to "declutter". The question this week is "are you ever going to make any more Shaker boxes?" I don't know because I have 20 or 30 that I've made that are still sitting in a storage box.

So I'm wondering about the saleability of these things. I have the forms to shape #1 - #4 boxes, drying forms, templates for the fingers, copper nails, a pan to heat the wood in, countertop burner, an inventory of parts, and some manuals on the process.

Thoughts?

We sell our turnings at a museum and something I learned from another turner, Bling Sells. Plain boxes may sell but add artwork (painting, colored pencil drawing, woodburning) sells better usually. Another thing that might help is displaying boxes open with items in them someone might store in them.
