I was putting spray lacquer on five and dropped this one while turning it around.

Turn a new end, drill a hole for the shaft and glue it on or glue a bead on the end. It's too nice to lose it.

Yes going to try to save it one way or another.

I HATE it when that happens.

Bummer Rusty. No doubt with your creative skills you'll figure out a save.

Ok I very carefully cut the finial off. Very little sanding. Redrilled the 3/8” hole. Made a new finial and glued it on.

Great save Rusty. Nobody knows but us.😉

Good job. I had a passerby drop a lid with similar finial and broken tip. I was able to flatten tip , drill and glue back on.

Wonderful repairPraise . Now would you mind sharing how you held your ornament to work on it, Grandson sat on one and returned it for repairWonderScratch

I held the globe in my left hand and the finial in my right hand and ran it through my band saw very slow. I tried cutting very close to the globe for minimal sanding. I got lucky and cut it close enough for no sanding. I sanded a little anyway. Then I drilled a new hole and glued the new one on.

Leave it to me to over think things. simple is GOOD and your way sounds excellent, Thanks
