Making progress on a clamp cart. Edge banded the sides on Saturday so will need to trim those flush before attaching to the center (main) section.

Worked on the base this morning. 20260223_115518.jpgResawed a white oak board to get the thickness I wanted for the edges and got it glued and brad nailed before lunch. Likely will add some screws too.

Will see what can be accomplished this afternoon!

Still glueing up rolling pins. It’s a long process.

The computer/router repair was a bust. If Brightspeed tries to get you to sign up- RUN AWAY!! Worst customer service/support I have had the misfortune of working with.

Had to take cousin to doctor’s appointment today

Received text for changes on the stage prop.

Other than that…

Busy Friday but accomplished everything on my must do list followed by an hour plus drive each way to watch oldest grandsons basketball game. His JV team won; 4 in a row now; Varsity lost their 3rd in the last four games. Grandson's stats weren't impressive on paper really except for the 4Q; 5 pts, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block (on the 6-7 guy) 2 assists but he played the best defensive game of his career going up against a 6'4" and 6'7" post and power forward. Grandson is listed at 6'3" but actually is 6'2".

Saturday did the absolute bare minimum since my wife was so gracious to share her cold with me. Sunday granddaughter and I went to church; I had responsibilities before, during and after services so had to suck it up buttercup. Mrs. stayed home. In the afternoon, I continued doing the minimum daily allowance. Since I didn't finish that over the weekend I'm continuing the effort toward that goal today.

Remainder of the week; oldest grandson wraps up his first season of H.S. basketball at home Wednesday; he'll be traveling with the varsity next week for Rd1 of the Sectionals but no freshman will be dressing to play. Donut see any shop work planned since the snow and below freezing temperatures are back. I do have everything (maybe?) I need to replace a bathroom vanity faucet, plus replace the drain tailpiece and clean the trap...well everything but the moto-vation to crawl under a vanity. Still have bird seed to unload from Friday's errands. We'll see.

As I said on Friday I didn't have a project planned for the weekend but I did get some "bench top tool tinkering" done.

I had several jigs and tools that I would clamp to the edge of my workbench with a couple of bar clamps but since I recently added a bench vice that I mounted level to my worksurface I came up with a better way to clamp these bench top tools and jigs down.

I started with a angle grinder straight cut jig and added a flat piece of metal to the front of its wood platform that I could clamp down with the wood vice

Tool_Clamp-1.jpg

That worked out so well I added a straight piece of aluminum to my scroll saw base.

Tool_Clamp-2.jpg

I wanted something similar for my benchtop drill press but it has an angled base platform. I though I would have to bend a piece of metal to accommodate the angle of the base then I remembered a brass hinge I had in a coffee can in my storage cabinet.

Tool_Clamp-3.jpg

I glued a magnet to the top plate of the hinge to keep the bottom plate out of the way when I was sliding the drill press across the workbench to get it out of the way.

So that ended my bench top tool tinkering .............. for now.

This idea sure simplified clamping down my tools to the bench.

Great ideas and solutions @Bubba. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to file that magnet idea away.
