Every year our club has a chapter challenge. There is a beginner class and advanced class. The winner of advanced gets to pick next years challenge. The winner from last year picked a lighthouse. Has to be 12” or taller and light up. It is announced in December so we have two months to make it. Not expecting to win this one but this is my entry.

Super cool! Even if it doesn't win the contest it's still a winner!

Great Rusty. That was on my list of to-do items. Gathered the parts but didn't get to it. What did you use for the light?

I couldn’t find anything that turned. I bought some small LED lights for a doll house and made a piece to hang it from.

That is magnificent, Rusty!!! My eyes went buggy just looking at it. I can't even imagine how you calculated the "bricks" on the circular taper.

That is spectacular Rusty. I'm duly impressed.Praise You've got both of my votes.TwoThumbsUp

Great job. I was thinking capsule lights as I have a bag full and do not remember what I planned to make with them.

1st place in my book

The Details West HO Scale RB-106 Rotary Beacon "Strato Light" is a white metal accessory designed for HO scale model railroads. This detailed rotary beacon adds realism to railroad scenes, as it repli

.

Based on standard HO scale proportions for a full-sized "Strato-Light" rotary beacon:

  • Diameter: Approximately 3mm to 4.5mm at the base.

  • Height: Approximately 3mm to 5mm from the roof mount to the top of the lens.

  • Lens Core: The internal "cored" hole is designed to fit a 1.5mm to 1.8mm (or "0603" size) SMD LED or a micro-bulb for illumination.

If you needed a larger one I wonder if those are made for "O" gauge trains. Oops, I did find one at the same place Lew first linked, but I get the photo up to look at it.
