Friday again folks! Cheer

Here in the land of "Two Weeks from Anywhere" we're contemplating digging out the tank tops and shorts due to the fact that we may actually warm up to freezing for the first time in three weeks.

So as we wait for the "Big Thaw", Ho_Hum.thumb

Here's hoping it doesn't take three weeks to get outta there.

It'll be back into the 20's for the weekend but might hit 40 sometime next week here.

Back in the shop, finishing a bassinet rocking stand, got a coat of oil on it yesterday, and a few more coming. It's already Friday! Man, that used to mean something to me before. 😁 Being a smart alec here, everyone please be safe in all you do, and stay warm out there!

Any estimation of when you can return to the dungeon?

Digging through parts of projects past, seeing what I can do with some of what I've already done.

In other words that computer desk/case cat proofing project from a few months ago has taken a different turn.

Wrapped up the week yesterday with a drive to the next county seat to the east to pick up online auction items. The one tote of tools contained a Stanley Bailey, #5 plane, several block planes, an unidentified manufacturer spoke shave (I believe it to be a post WWII Millers-Falls #17), (5), "vintage" hacksaws by various manufacturers and a few other "treasures. Pictures in the future when the weather is more conducive aka sunshine, no wind and well above freezing which likely will be June or so now.

While I was relatively close, drove on to the Tractor Supply store from last Friday's debacle and bought the remaining "well pump insurance policy" aka the extra, backup pump. Hopefully, I live a long time yet and will forget I ever bought it. I took a less stressful and more scenic route home which included passing numerous donut factory outlets however I did not succumb to temptation (that and did not want to get out in the cold again). Finished the day at oldest grandsons basketball game (they lost).

Weekend; there remains the task to retrieve tools, equipment, and supplies from the storm cellar; I've checked on them a few times this week; they're still there. No ballgames this weekend; Church Sunday. EDIT Add: Spaced it, today is youngest granddaughters 23rd birthday so the "big celebration party" will be Sunday; just low key here tonight.

I had to get rid of all my spare parts stash. Kept old hard drives and a box of memory sticks PullingHair

Not much going on here, I'm almost ready for my Super Bowl party, I've got about 1/2 of a left over pizza in the freezer to thaw for the big day, and I'll pick up some wings tomorrow to go with it, then we sit down and watch Netflix. I might even mix up some chip dip. Who knows, this might turn out to be a rowdy as New Years eve.

What’s the old saying, you make plans and God laughs. I got the furnace running in the shop with a couple projects to get done. I no sooner got out there when my wife called me to say we had a roof leak. Came out and sure enough we had a huge ice dam on the roof causing the leak.

Had to get the roof rake out and clear out all the snow, run out and buy some panty hose and ice melt. Get the extension ladder out to place the salt filled hose to create valleys for the water to run off. I got most of it done today will finish it up tomorrow. We had 17 degree weather with wind gusts up to 50 mph made it too difficult to finish up today. Winds should die down tomorrow. 🤞This winter has been rough.

I've got a few boxes ready for the spring free electronics recycling program in April.

It's the wood parts of the projects I'm going through now to see what I can reuse from the previous build.

Trying for sort of a Shaker Style upper cabinet for the monitor/sound bar/keyboard/trackball.

Found a pair of cabinet doors, and small drawers that will work with a little rework (additions) to the previous builds top after standing it on end.

The previous builds base decided to split in a couple of places. ( Note to self, use Oak plywood this time.)

Same Day Surgery at 0700 this morning, they were to repair the damage in me right thumb, including a tendon that was cut...

sitting here, arm is in a sling...still numb from the nerve block...am restricted to very, very light duty...so, other than adjusting to the left handed ways, not much else is going to happen..

Shop is closed down for now..

Had a great day today. Sun shining and temp hit 75. Got the new switches wired in the shop so it is just like I want it now. Put up a shelf for antique wooden planes but not big enough so need one more.

My pastor had a chair needing really more than can be done . But I tried Glued joints and screwed the braces in. It is a dining chair made of pine and upholstered. Corner braces were stapled . Guess I have to counsel him on buying furniture. I am not a chair guy and he said it was not a use item.Spent the rest of the afternoon organizing that jumble of scrap wood (never know when you might need that ) so it is all on shelves. The shop is almost livable and with the organization I may be able to find some things. While picking up stuff on main bench looked in a cabinet and there were the shelf pegs for the new cabinets. Wouldn't you know I go alternative and find parts when finished.🤒BangingHead

Lets see...

make a hardboard box of sorts, for dust collection at the lathe. Then cuss at the mistakes! haha.

Indeed, I shall use my newly aquired hot glue gun on it! at least for tack welding :)

Turn a Game call From Kingwood. yay!!

Attempt / practice turning a shallow bowl of sorts, using a piece of 2x6 or 2x8 lumber. Watch u tub videos on why my attempt failed :)

Buy some Beer for my neighbor.

Because once again, I will need Muscle.. To install a HF Air Hose reel. Another one of those "what took you so long" things. It is particularly driven by shop safety!

clean the jaws on my metal lathe chuck. and DE-BURR them!! I removed one earlier this evening, and OMG seriously? sheesh.

Besides the typical use of Files, at least I have a legit Norton De-burring wheel to chuck up in the drill press.

If I have any energy left over, and little to no pain, setup the Wolverine clone sharpener Jig. Hmm. Maybe I should do that as a priority!

Am very close to finishing the "pre-filter box" for my minisplit. Has been so wonderful to have the shop temperature warm enough so I can use the space in the winter. Very thankful for that upgrade!

Also want to get filters over the wall fans for a little extra air cleaning as well as to keep the fans in good shape.

In addition I need to still trim out the top of the air filter cart and attach to the cart. Have already been using it and it is very quiet and the top surface is a major bonus for glueups, etc.

Doubt I will have enough time to get back to the mitersaw dust box - right now I have a cardboard box around it that I was using to visualize what I want to build from plywood. 🤷‍♀️

Supervisor was on the job yesterday.

The start of a fun weekend around here. Have some chores to do today then it's out to the shop for some quality time and then race prep for tomorrow on the books for this afternoon.

Tomorrow should be clear, about 70, low/no wind just perfect for a day at the track.
