January 28Jan 28 Popular Post Never made ornaments before. The red one is my first. Not happy with the finials. The green one is my second. I like the green one being a little more squatty and like the finials better. Still a work in progress.
January 28Jan 28 Popular Post I told Lew this in another post, I wish I could stuff I was unhappy with that's as nice as those. They look fine (even excellent) to me.
January 28Jan 28 Popular Post Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Rusty. From here in the frozen, snow covered tundra of Indiana, both are beautiful to me. I really like the red one and particularly the finials. Ya' did good...real good.
January 28Jan 28 Popular Post Like them both, Rusty! I think the green finial is a little more delicate.I'll have to see f I can find it again, but, someone did all of the ration calculations for Cindy Drozda's finials and put them in a spreadsheet.
January 29Jan 29 Popular Post I have done a lot of ornaments, would be proud to call those mine. Very nice!
January 29Jan 29 Popular Post if those are the first I can't wait to see what's next, they always get better, and i can't see anything wrong with those. globes are shaped near perfect, finials are delicate, offer them as a gift and I'll bet they don't come home, that's how I determine if mine are good enough 🙂, kudos to you sir truly fine work. I would appreciate knowing what wood is in the red one tia. Edited January 29Jan 29 by Rusty S forgot

I would appreciate knowing what wood is in the red one tia.Sorry I forgot to put that in my post. The globes are Autumn olive and the finials are maple. I bought some wood dye and have been wanting to try it. I got a bunch of autumn olive from a friend, it is all 2” to 3” in diameter and around 3’ long. I don’t think is is good for anything else, maybe trees. Thank you for the kind words. Edited January 30Jan 30 by RustyFN
January 30Jan 30 The finials look great to me . The only note to me is length which is a personal preference and looog and thin can lead to damage. You done great especially for the first. I think I blew up the first two or three I did.
