I have made a few wooden trivets as gifts. Not a lot of income when you give them away.

Since retirement, my wife and I have been going to a lot of craft fairs.  I’ve seen so many of items that frankly similar to your picture.

I made a few wood trivets from criss-cossing 1 x 0.25 strips of wood.  I also have an everyday one that's made with a ceramic tile center.  It was one of the first woodworking projects that I ever made

The problem with most of the last pictures except the trivet is none of them are made from wood.
