This is my Rabbet Moulding Plane that I made last year.

Here you see the parts. I made an extra wedge.

It's beautiful!!

The upper portion is made out of Spalted Maple. The wedge out of Hard Rock Maple and the bottom out of Dogwood.

I finished it with 3 coats of General Finishes oil based satin Gel Topcoat and then one thorough coat of wood butter.

Here's a video where you can hear (sound on) the sweet sound and see it in action!!

Ya gotta love it!

Thanks for looking!

Cheers!!

Nice!

I noticed some of your planes have the "bottoms" dovetailed into the upper portion and some have more of a tenon connection. How did you cut the "sliding dovetail" into the upper portion?

I set up a jig and used a router specifically for incorporating the sliding dovetails. Everything else is hand tooled.

Beautiful tool. You really need to be teaching the craft. You've revived a lost art.

Thanks Grandpadave52! I'm thinking about how I go about teaching. But I'm also thinking about making and selling them.

(1) You might talk to a local/ regional community colleges; also local high schools especially if they still have some form of trades education; reach out to any woodworking supply stores...

(2)Facebook Market Place, Etsy, eBay might be starting places. Also, you might work out deals with some of your area Woodworking Supply Stores.

Hopefully others a lot smarter than me on these subjects will offer suggestions as well.

Best of fortune to you. You certainly have the knowledge and craftsmanship for both.
