A box with G&G and Shou Sugi Ban techniques

Featured Replies

Recently I made this box as an experiment incorporating Greene and Greene features and the Japanese wood burning technique called "Shou Sugi Ban".

It's entirely made of Pine. Brass hinges and snap catches were installed. The G&G plugs are cedar. They are decorative only. There are no screws anywhere except for the snap catch and hinges. Box Finger Joint construction.

I finished it with 3 coats of blonde 2 lb shellac. I buy the flakes from Lee Valley.

At the moment my gent saw has a home in it.

Hope you like it.

Thanks for looking!
