I made this end table out of Pine a couple of years ago to match our other furniture. It has a General Finishes medium brown dye stain and top coated with a General Finishes water based polyurethane. I didn't have a lathe so I made the bun feet by a special jig on my drill press. Here it is and ready for finishing.

Here it is mounted in place

On all four corners of each leg and made stopped chamfers

Thanks for looking!

You bet. It's about the journey... right?!

Yep, a drill press is just a lathe standing on end.  😉   Well done!

Looks really nice.

How did you add the detail in the middle of the top and the shelf? Is that raised, or a groove to give that visual?

Nice work!

Thanks 4DThinker. I've done alot of turning on my drill press but I'm always careful not to damage my quill by making sure both ends are secure.

Thanks BB1! It is a groove. The top is made of 5 pieces. The middle piece is rabbeted all around so that the rabbeted edge is inline with inner edge of long left and right sides and top and bottom middle pieces. Here's a close up. I'm I explaining okay to you?

Thats a great way to create added visual interest. With the added color of the stain it gives a feeling of a depth change.

One thing about open grooves on a table top is that the detritus of life tends to make a home in them. 😞

That's a fair comment. But then that's why you dust or vacuum now and then. Really.. it isn't very much trouble at all. Grooves less than 1/8" wide are recommended. Plus I meant to mention they are less than 1/16" deep.

You're quite right. It's subtle but inviting. The color provides some warmth. We like it.

Well done Riick. Great work around (and results) not having a lathe.

Thanks. I love the journey Grandpadave52! I was raised to never say " can't "
