October 15, 2025Oct 15 I made this box all with hand tools for my Stanley 750 Sweetheart Chisels. Made out of Spalted Pine. Just look at that grain!! Seldom do you see spalted coloring! Brass hinges were installed. Also magnets and screws for snugging the lid securely. Handcut dovetailed corners. Handcut moulding all around lid and bottom perimeter. Applied finish is General Finishes Water-Based High Performance Polyurethane from Lee Valley. Thanks for looking! Cheers! MrRick
October 15, 2025Oct 15 Author I often do this on boxes with these types of lids. It works well. Did you notice the adjustable screw that the magnet sticks to when closing? This allows you to tweak the fit.

October 16, 2025Oct 16 Author There are many details our grandfathers did in woodworking that were done by hand and rival or surpass that which is done by modern power equipment today. One reason IMO: Their hearts and hands were focused on the journey not the expediency.
