October 10, 2025Oct 10 Popular Post The throat plate on my table saw is unsupported on the end next to the blade opening, and flexes down when I'm cutting narrow strips. The strips often catch on the table lip which had been a nagging and dangerous problem since I bought the saw. Today I set out to either fix that problem or put the table saw on facebook market to to get rid of it. There is a blade housing edge below this area. I measured how thick it was, how far below the table surface it was, and how thick the throat plate was at the spot. I cut a slot the bottom end of a 1" wood dowel to slip over the blade housing, and stood it up to support the throat plate. I got lucky on my first try and for now will be keeping this saw. Wish I'd gotten to this 10 year ago though. 4D Edited October 10, 2025Oct 10 by 4DThinker
October 15, 2025Oct 15 Popular Post that’s a clever and clean solution! Those unsupported throat plates can be sketchy, especially when ripping narrow pieces.
January 23Jan 23 Author Popular Post One warning about my dowel solution.... If you tip the blade, remove the dowel before changing the blade angle. On my saw the surround it rests on moves with the blade, and will pop up the throat plate/jam the movement. 4D
