Popular Post MrRick Posted October 10 Popular Post Report Posted October 10 (edited) I made this box with all hand tools. There's plenty of room for bit storage and placing the plane. It's made out of Spalted Pine and Cedar. All the plane accessories have plenty of room. The bit storage holder can be removed. I inlaid brass hinges for securing lid to body. There's an inside front compartment for an extra add on router base. Hand cut dovetails on all the corners. The lid and bottom edges were rounded over with a smoothing plane. Ya gotta love it! The spalting on the lid and bottom were awesome! Thanks for looking!! cheers! MrRick Edited October 10 by MrRick Gerald, steven newman, Grandpadave52 and 2 others 1 3 1 Quote

Cheers! Rick OK, since you asked. I've noticed several of your projects incorporate pine or cedar or both. Do you have a local source or mill where you purchase rough or are you buying finished stock from a retail "big box." Just curious. steven newman and lew 2 Quote
MrRick Posted October 10 Author Report Posted October 10 I live in the rain forests of the northwest. Hardwoods for the most part are expensive up here. So I seldom buy it unless there's something real special I'm doing. But Fir, Hemlock, Pine, Spruce, and Cedar are abundant. Some Hardwoods like Maple and Alder are common here too. I usually buy from big box stores and a few mills nearby. I always take a moisture meter to check moisture content as well as end grain inspection. I'm fairly demanding in selection. Thanks for asking. I like the interaction. Cheers! Rick lew, steven newman and Grandpadave52 1 2 Quote
MrRick Posted October 10 Author Report Posted October 10 (edited) I forgot to mention that this box was modified with a couple of rare earth magnets on the underside of the lid. It allows to store my small LV router plane as shown. Edited October 10 by MrRick steven newman, Grandpadave52, lew and 1 other 3 1 Quote
