I am making a vanity (60" wide) for my hall bathroom (more detail to follow in another post).  Help me select the drawer board layout. I have three QSWO boards and assume all three boards are suitable to use (which may not be the case) and will yield 3/4" x 8" x 27" drawer fronts.  The vertical stiles are 7/8"thick x 2" wide.  The horizonal rails are 3/4" thick x 1-1/2" wide.

Option #1 uses two boards and option #2 uses three boards.

Which option would you choose?

Is the other option wrong to use?

I would use option 1 presuming that the continuity of grain patterns is acceptable to you. This would preserve board 3 in as large a piece as possible for future projects. It will also allow for replacing one (or more) of the other fronts in the event of an oops.

Either way will work. Just depends on what you are comfortable with.

Either way, make sure you show us what you do!

The QSWO might not be too difficult to grain match side by side. If that's the case, using 2 boards would be more economical. I think either would be OK.  Will the vanity have a sink basin(s) that will affect the drawer action?

Lew, I plan to make allowances for the sink basins in the drawer constructions.   Danl

I invited the customer (wife) down to the shop and asked for her opinion.  I had one board that would only had enough length to make two drawer fronts.  She wanted me to use this board.  So, I will be using three boards.  Thanks for asking.   Danl
