August 5, 2025Aug 5 Popular Post Yes, this plane is still around.... Might bring that iron upstairs for a sharpening day.... May see more action as a small jointer....since I do not use a shooting board.. had a day at the "Track" today...the TEST TRACK.. Sitting beside the Millers Falls No. 14 Jack...Several jack planes were tried out, before I start putting things away... Including the No. 15 Jumbo Jack ( Stanley N. 5-1/2 size) a couple of the smoothers, and.. The Millers Falls No. 11 Junior Jack plane... Trying to see who needs a sharpening, and who needed to be set up better.. Stay tuned..🤠
August 6, 2025Aug 6 Author Took the #62 apart this morning.. And this area was stuffed full of chips and shavings...now have that cleaned up..depth adjuster is oiled up, and moving a better.. Both of these needed some time on the water stones...all 4 stones....take them back to the shop... Jointed the Soft Maple edge, to get things set up.. More adjusting, tried to face plane the Maple...hard to stop, ain't it? Try out some of the Ash..edge first.. Getting there...then... Just about there...? Swept the shop.. Looks like someone has been busy?
August 6, 2025Aug 6 Author Popular Post There was another plane iron to be done, today..along with Kitchen Knives... When the chipbreaker has this stamp, and the back of the chipbreaker is BLUE.. And it needed to be mated up to the 2-3/8" wide iron, that say Stanley Rule and Level Co. And this stamp is in the toe.... 24" long, too...this be a big Jointer plane...but... This is NOT a smoothing plane...this is as thin as the shavings will get...adjuster wheel "bottomed" out.. Need to start putting all these planes away..someday..🤔
