kmealy Posted July 30 Report Posted July 30 We use a 1.5 - 2 HP router in the furniture bank shop to round over table tops made of 3/4" melamine coated particle board. We are looking for some corded replacement as the switch in the existing one(s) keep getting clogged up. Any recommendations for or against? Grandpadave52, lew and HARO50 3 Quote
Danl Posted July 30 Report Posted July 30 My go to router is a DeWalt DW621. It is a 2 HP, plunge, and has both 1/4" and 1/2" dia. collets. Danl HARO50 1 Quote
Masonsailor Posted July 30 Report Posted July 30 I am a fan of the Makita 3612br 3hp router. I have three that have survived 25-30 years. They survived the cabinet shop era where they ran several hours a day and they are still running great. I just picked up one recently for my son barely used for $100. Paul HARO50 1 Quote
Gerald Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 Had a Dewalt 625 in my table for about 15 years till the bearings froze. It meet all my needs. Now using a Hitachi I got from an estate. It has met my needs but have not used it enough to give a full report. HARO50 and Al B 2 Quote
Ron Dudelston Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 I’m a Bosch guy. I have 3 -1617EVS routers with one hanging in my router table. I have replaced the bearings in the table router once. HARO50, Gerald and Al B 3 Quote
ASteinfield Posted August 7 Report Posted August 7 Look into the Makita RP1800 or Bosch 1617EVS, both are solid, corded, 2+ HP routers with sealed switches that hold up well in dusty shop environments. Durable and reliable for repetitive work like you're doing. HARO50 1 Quote
