Popular Post Wichman3 Posted June 30 Popular Post Report Posted June 30 I'm primarily a scroll sawyer, so the other tools may not get used for awhile, especially if there are issues with them. Which brings us to my table saw, a vintage sears/craftsman 12" 220v 3 hp saw. I had been cutting dado's for the business I worked at, 3/4" wide x 1" deep, the 1" deep was the sticking point for being able to easily accomplish with the tools at the shop, but easy with the TS. The last time I installed the dado set I managed to let a shim slip down into the threads and I buggered them up pretty good, that was 4 years ago. I had managed to make the saw usable by using washers to get the nut to be able to tighten on a blade, but kinda wonky. Early in June I started working on getting it fixed, I checked the thread pitch and tpi with a tap and die set I had, used the little thread checker device, I ordered the tap and die set from Amazon and then waited patiently (ha!) for the slow boat from China. The tap and die arrived today and within an hour had everything back up to snuff. Yea, win win 5/8" x 12 tap and die ( the set I have only goes up to 1/2" ) The hardest part of the whole thing was getting the die started on the arbor, I was worried about getting it cross threaded so I took my time. Everything back together and the blade is nice and tight. HARO50, Gerald, Headhunter and 5 others 8 Quote
