Cleaning router bits and saw blades

Featured Replies

I saw this video today, I thought it's a great idea and wanted to share it. It involves using an ultrasonic cleaner to clean router bits and other cutting edges.

I saw the same video and have ordered the cleaner.   Old tech.  When I was a student in Architecture college we used one to clean/unclog our Rapidograph ink pens.  I've got a few router bits and a router collet or two I'm going to try cleaning.

Got it.  It did a good job of cleaning off the impacted wood dust and sap from bits.  Not so good on really black burn coating such as on the Chuck on my CNC router which had spent some time rubbing against wood while spinning at 18k RPM.   Might do better depending on what cleaning agent is used.   I used a few drops of Dawn dish detergent with water for my first try.   Might see what else I have under the sink for cleaning and do another test.
