Pencil Holder

A recent project. I found an inexpensive pencil holder/organizer at the dollar store, I thought it was so handy I wanted another for my work area. I went back to the dollar store and they had sold out, months later they were still sold out. They had them on their website, but the minimum order was 25 units, I don't need 25, so while looking through my patterns I thought this Charles Hand pattern would work, and it did. :)

I stack cut two layer of Elm, top layer 1/4", bottom layer 5/16" ( that's what I had laying around ) once I had all the interior cuts done I laminated a piece of 1/8" Masonite to the bottom. Once the glue was cured I cut the outside. I used 3/16" dowel to separate the two layers. Soaked everything in BLO, let that cure and then a couple of light coats of rattle can shellac to finish.

FD Polar #1 blades throughout.

I save the little wooden coffee stir sticks so I have disposable epoxy stirrers, they fit in the smaller holes quite nicely. All told I have about 7 hours of cutting in this one, but, since it's for me I don't care. :)

It's all just one hole at a time. :)

I can shrink the universe down to a 4" circle and just focus on what's in the circle.

When I was drilling the holes I only drilled the hole In the circle of cutout I was working on, I started in the center and worked my way out. :)

That is amazing Wich! The intricate detail is over the top. FWIW, I've never seen anything that cool at any dollar store or any other store for that matter.

If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing. :)
