Resharpen bandsaw blades?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know someone who can resharpen my 1/2" sawblades? Willing to pay for shipping and all of the fees.

I usually have sawblade.com resharpen the blades for me but unfortunately, they only resharpen the blades that was ordered from them so as not to disrupt operations. :(

You can use a Dremel tool to do it yourself. I've sharpened mine several times. I use one of the fiber reinforced cutting discs and just give each tooth a quick touch on the cutting edge. It takes a while to get every tooth but it can be done.

I've never had a problem with them cutting properly after sharpening. A LOT easier and cheaper than sending them off or replacing them!

I just leave the blade on the machine and rotate it around by hand. Make sure to mark where you start or you may never be heard from again.:P

I use a round cylindrical dremel bit on my blades . Look on YouTube and you will find both methods of sharpening. I usually only sharpen mine twice before replacing.

I don't know of anyone that sharpens them for hire, my guess is the cost would exceed the value of the blade. But as mentioned above there are a lot of folks doing it themselves.

I've heard of doing them with a Dremel, I've never tried it however.  I used to have a cordless Dremel that was my mom's, but I gave it to my ex when she moved out.  Handy little tool that I miss now and then, it would be perfect for this kind of task.
