April 7, 2025Apr 7 I know Wood Magazine did a review of several of them a couple of years ago, it might have some useful information. Linky. If that doesn't have enough info I may have the copy of that issue on hand and I can pull it out and send it to you.
April 7, 2025Apr 7 Author Yes, that's a good one but out of budget. So far I've seen the Wen and the Grizzly. I looked at the Milescraft circular saw conversion kit, but by the time I'd get the kit and enough track to do 8', I'd be within about $60 of a complete set oof the aforementioned. This is for the non-profit theater group. We cut a lot of lauan and OSB, currently done on a table saw with no infeed or outfeed tables. I made a workbench to function as an outfeed, but it's always stacked with junk. Life of working in a shared shop with volunteer parents.
April 7, 2025Apr 7 Author ooh, that was good, Fred. Made me decide against the Grizzly. I have had/have a few Grizzly products. Some were OK, and some were disappointing. I thought, based on recent reviews that their quality had inched up a bit.
April 8, 2025Apr 8 Don't have personal experience with one; still old school here with a clamp on guide and circular saw. However, just saw this video a couple of days ago. Might be worth considering.
April 8, 2025Apr 8 I bought a Masterforce from Menards. It does the job but I ended up replacing the adhesive backed vinyl strip on the front edge . The adhesive let go.
April 8, 2025Apr 8 My 15 year old track saw is homemade. My saw is a Skill 77. It's base has two aligned holes to which a track insert is affixed with bolts and wing nuts. The corresponding tracks are mounted in various lengths of 1/2" BB ply. One at 8' and one at 4'. It's first use establishes the cut line which is aligned with tic marks on the material. It has to be clamped in place.

April 10, 2025Apr 10 Author I think I need to discuss with the shop manager. I don't want to donate the money for something that no one uses.
